It is plenty of things to do in Zurich, and around the city. I would like to give some examples here:

Inside Zurich

I would start from visiting the Old Town: Zurich’s Altstadt, or Old Town, is a charming area with narrow streets, historic buildings, and plenty of cafes and shops. Notable the Fraumünster Church: This church is famous for its stunning stained glass windows, created by the artist Marc Chagall. I enjoyed to take a stroll along the Bahnhofstrasse: Zurich’s main shopping street is a great place to window shop, people watch, and admire the beautiful architecture. Be careful if you like watches, you can find the most exclusive models in the shops of the area.

Check out also the Grossmünster Church: This Romanesque-style church has a tower you can climb for stunning views of the city.

Nature and outside Zurich

Lake Zurich is a beautiful lake in the heart of the city. You can take a boat tour or simply walk along the promenade and enjoy the views. Or run the marathon, that will cover a long distance of its shore!

If you want alternatives outide the city, you can take a trip to the Uetliberg. This mountain offers panoramic views of the city and is a popular spot for hiking and picnicking. Also, you may plan and enjoy a day trip to the Rhine Falls. Located just outside of Zurich, the Rhine Falls are the largest waterfall in Europe and offer a breathtaking sight.

Art options

If you are into art, there are several options available, like the Kunsthaus Zurich. This art museum has a collection of works from Swiss artists as well as European masters like Monet, Picasso, and Van Gogh. The Swiss National Museum is located in a historic building and has exhibits about Swiss history, culture, and art

Food and drinks

We cannot mention Switzerland forgetting chocolate and cheese, but there are many other options there!

The Cheese Fondue is a must, especially in winter. A pot of melted cheese is served with bread cubes for dipping. It’s a hearty and delicious meal that’s perfect for sharing with friends.

Very typical is also the Rösti, a Swiss dish made from grated potatoes that are fried until crispy. It’s a popular side dish that’s often served with sausage or meat, like the bratwurst. But as mentioned before, Switzerland is famous for its high-quality chocolate, and Zurich is home to many chocolate shops and cafes. Lindt and Sprüngli are two of the most well-known Swiss chocolate brands.
